How to get Cheap Computer Software

9 August 2006

From Then Things comes a tip on how to get cheap software for your computer: find a friend who’s still in college and have them use a student discount to buy it for you directly from their university. As she points out, there are some pretty heavy discounts at most colleges - to the point that you can get thousand dollar packages for under $100. If you’re still a student, you should plan ahead and think about buying stuff for yourself now. Personally, I’m still using software I bought as a student, often without really knowing that I’d need it. I got Adobe photoshop, Frontpage, and Excel packaged with a bunch of other software from my school’s tech department for about $10 or so - and I never used any of those until I got out into the real world. Now I find myself using them frequently. So parents, if your kids are in college, take advantage of that discount.
