Watch What You Carry On A Plane

25 August 2006

SMB’s Financial Coups has a good point about an easy way to waste money – carrying items in your luggage that are now banned under current flight rules. She was forced through a security checkpoint with a bunch of lotions, shampoos, and other banned items in a bag she planned to check – and had to throw away a bunch of them.

For people who haven’t flown recently, this is pretty new and comes in response to the terrorist plot in Britain using sports drink bottles. They’ve pretty much banned all liquids in your carry-ons, including drinks, shampoo, lotions, gels, and toothpaste. As SMB points out, some of these can be pretty expensive. So keep that in mind and don’t toss away good money by taking it in your carry on where they’ll make you throw it away. And thank me for avoiding this summer’s obligatory snake/plane related pun in this post.
