Stuff That Goes On Sale At The End of Summer
10 September 2006We’re in the beginning of fall - it’s a new season, so it’s time to buy all that stuff you’ll need during the fall and winter, right? Not if you’re a smart shopper - if you want some bargains, you’ll be shopping for next summer. Stores are busily unloading the merchandise that they won’t be able to sell until next June anyway, so look around for some discounts. What should you think about buying?
Gardening Equipment - People tend to buy this in the spring and summer because it’s more comfortable to be outdoors.
Summer Clothes - An obvious one - things like bathing suits, shorts, and light clothing in general are all on sale now.
Camping and Outdoors Stuff - Need a new tent or sleeping bag? Now is the time to get it. Some of these are “all season” products nowadays, so you may not be able to get discounts on those as easily.
Air Conditioners - If you need a new one installed, you should be calling around to see if you can get some deals just as the weather in your area starts to get cool. Many air conditioner repair and installation businesses shut down entirely in the winter, so it can be a bad idea to wait too long.
School Supplies - This is something to keep an eye on for the next few weeks. After all the schools in your area have gotten back into session for a little bit, stores will usually have a lot of excess supplies that weren’t sold.
One other thing - don’t just look in the stores. People who used a tent once during the summer and got bored with it will be trying to sell on E-bay or through the local classifieds. If you’ve got storage space in your garage or somewhere, take advantage of the situation. There’s supply, but no real demand - so you can get a big discount on the price by lowballing with your offer.
